On Oct. 15, 2016, Life Care Center of Columbia, Tennessee, sent 13 associates (who volunteered on their own time) to take part in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s held in Nashville.
Associates named their team the Mule Town Kickers in honor of Columbia being the Mule Capital of the World.
Lisa White, executive director, served as the team captain for the walk.
“As the only facility in Columbia with a secured unit, we felt like it was important to have a presence at the walk this year,” White said. “We also host a monthly Alzheimer’s Support Group that has grown to 15-20 attendees each month. We provide a free lunch, education and emotional support.”
Life Care Center of Columbia raised $1,300 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Most of the total was raised through bake sales and fundraising meals. Bake sale items were provided by residents’ family members, associates and the dietary department.
