On March 31, 2019, Lillie Sewell celebrated her 105th birthday at Life Care Center of Columbia, Tennessee.
In 2018, Sewell celebrated her 104th birthday with four other centenarians at a combined birthday party. Sewell’s family treated the guests to a singalong of hymns around the piano.
“I couldn’t believe how much fuss was being made over me,” said Sewell.
This year, facility ensured that the “fuss” was all about Sewell, as a 105th birthday calls for celebration.
Six generations of her family from five states joined Sewell for the birthday dinner. Chaz Molder, the Maury County mayor, read a proclamation in her honor while friends and family sang and reminisced by telling stories.
After guests sang “Happy Birthday,” Sewell said, “Thank you for coming to Momma Lillie’s birthday party.”
“The secrets to a long and happy life are to treat others the way that you want to be treated and always remember to pray,” said Sewell.
Sewell has been a resident of the facility since Feb. 2017. She has made many friends and has truly left a legacy.
“She is truly a blessing to our facility,” said Brandon Whiteside, executive director.
